I like the color version better. There's just a hint of the blue sky reflected in the water on the pavement that I really like. Also, in the black and white I seem to notice those buildings in the background more. The brilliant blue of the sky in the color version distracts me from them.

I'm digging the color version. One thing that I noticed right away and keeps bugging me is the two dark spots to the left of the statue (as we are looking at it). The could be birds or planes or just dust, but I'd clone them out. I do really like the photo though.

Thanks for comments and specific details, they are really helpful! I haven't noticed some of the details mentioned (building, birds..). And I agree with all pros and cons.
I like both versions, but when I have to choose, I'd probably go for the color version. I find that most people like that one better. And, the blue is unbeatable! But! With B/W I really tried to make this an old style photo, somewhere from 1950-. I wanted to emphasize the idealism, hope, and even melodramatic mood in the movies of that age, to shadow all secondary details and make it more 'focused', rather than rich and detail-interesting photo. I am not completely satisfied with the result. I wish I can push it a bit more to the extreeme in that sense but not to damage the details too much. I haven't tried 'lomo' processing, or sepia yet. Do you have any other ideas how to achieve this? I'm attaching the original which is brighter (my sister likes it best). If anyone wants to experiment with the photos and repost them in this thread, you have my permision.

sana,
I am 100% certain: both are winners. The color has, as well as all mentioned above, a complementary nature (paved area and sky, orange and blue). The b/w has a power of its own in the contrasts and composition. Balance between lower clouds on left and buildings on right works for me.
