Excellent shot. Not all bright and sunny like most beach shots and yet I love it. Great wind action, good colour in the scarf... I don't even mind that she's not looking at the camera- adds a certain mood and character to the shot. The only thing I might like to see is the rest of the hand on the right hand side (her left hand) but even with the missing hand I still like the shot.
Well captured.

Hahaha, Yeah - in the UK we don't get much bright and sunny days unfortunatly. The hand would have been good to get, at this point though she was running towards me to try and disarm me with the camera.
She had noticed 2 seconds before i had been taking sneaky pictures of her, so she ran at me, of course as she ran (hobbled) i managed to get a few shots. I had a much larger image above her, so we saw a lot of the sky. I've cropped it quite harshly, as the sky was dead, and there was nothing of intrest any higher up. Thanks. Eric

I think it is a neat shot, I like how much she stands out to the background, I also like the fact you can see the wind in the hair and scarf. I agree about the hand idea but I wish I could see a little bit of her face, doesn't have to be all of it just a little bit more, I think it would help connect you better to the subject

Yes, I think that would work... I read once that one rule of portraiture (now, that's for "formal" portraits) is to crop between the joints and not at the joint... so yes, I think cropping a little closer on the right side would make a difference (just don't crop at the elbow either)
