The composition is good. The lighting is pretty good too. For some reason, it seems muted though. Almost like it's been partially desaturated. Maybe it's just my eyes.

wow, great shot. Lots of depth to it. I love the shadows. I'm not the expert but maybe if you brought more of the stem into the shot? I could be wrong. I think it's great just the way you have it htough.

filemanager,

Consider the difference for the next bloom shot: lain flat and horizontal, the flower is seen as unnatural, picked, and dying. In the vertical position, with at least a hint of green in the background, it would have more life and suggest longevity. It really is a choice of where and how you choose to display your photo. Food for thought.

Thank you everyone!

Jiminy - I actually did another series of shots as the flower started to die. I got rose pedals from another rose and did a "dying rose on it's death bed (a bed of rose pedals)" type thing. It was a cool concept, but I didn't like how they came out =\

I like your idea though!!

I do have a couple others with more of the stem in the shot, but this one seemed to be the favorite according to my friends/family.

I love the idea of the shot. But maybe its my monitor, but it looks a bit underexposed to me

You could always rotate the image so it's vertical.
