Default Be gentle. My first image

Just taken up photography. Can I mention what I can see first of all. The dreadful lens flare was removed later (due to be forgetting to put on the shield thingy!) and it would look better if the horizon wasn't in the centre. I'm sure there's tonnes more things that you could advise me on. Did this all manually and am not good at all the settings yet. Wanted to achieve sillouettes.

If you were going after silhouettes, I'd personally gone with a crop like this.

Its a really nice shot. There just seems to be too much going on.

Very nice shot. To bring out the silhouettes I agree with Wood's idea of cropping.

Thanks for that. I guess I'm trying to do too much with the rocks and the sunset and the people.

Awesome shot.

I think you could have done one of two things to improve this.

1.) Focus more on the people, like Wood showed
or
2.) Don't have the people in the shot at all.

And the shield thingy's called a hood
