Default Posting of first photo

Hello everyone, ok, confession first.... I'm really more of a lurker because I have seen so many photos of 'beginners' that I got just a little too intimidated to participate in a threat, much less post a photo, lol. And of course the time thing seems to get away from me...

Ok, here is a photo I took on my way to work, digital Rebel XT, Canon 50mm lens.

It wasn't until I downloaded it to my PC that I saw the spiderwebs with the dew. Although I think my eyesight is going as I can not seem to get the camera to focus center.

Spidery Fog

Thanks...
Micki

Hi Micki, and welcome to the group. I suspect you probably saw more in the scene with your eyes than the camera captured. The conditions are excellent for a "moody" shot but the varied lines and shapes created by the grasses don't lend to leading one into the image and keeping the interest within the frame. The spider webs are a little hard to see in the smaller image and complicated by the lighting and lack of contrast against the background. I am not familiar with the way the XT focuses but it may be that there was not a strong enough line of contrast for the system to lock onto in thos particular scene. Don't dispair and don't be intimidated from posting. That's what we are here for. I'll be happy to help where I can.

Thanks Lee,

Actually, I didn't even see the spiderweb. I just wanted to capture some of the fog coming off the little pond. After I uploaded the photo to my PC, that's when I saw it.

Thanks for the encouragement..... I'll keep at it

Micki
