Default Rings 'n Rose

Howdy,
This is my first post on the forums. I just joined after getting a new digital camera. Please let me know about one of my first sessions while trying out my new camera. (I was never able to get the focus right on the shiney diamond )
Thanks for the input in advance.

Hi dextr:
Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your new camera. As for your question about your photo I must say it's a nice composition you did. A romantic one. IMHO I'll try to re shot it with a different light, maybe some lamp that can make bounce the light on the diamond and get the effect you wanted. I will try to blur all other parts of the rose. Also some vignetting could give it a more closer feel. That's my opinion.
Creative composition btw.
Good luck!

Thanks for the input. I am still working on focusing on the diamond, but the when the light hits it the camera has a hard time figuring out what to do. Has anyone else had some success with specific techniques? Oh and if it helps the camera is a Kodak Z812 IS.
Thanks again!

Nice photo ,I like the idea ,very creative . I suggest that you place something on the dimond like a small card , something that your camera can focus on , where it is clear it would be as hard to focus on as water drops . with your camera set up on a tripod ,and your shot comp in place ,set the timer and place the paper on the dimond ,press your shutter half way to get your focus , hold ,remove the paper and and press the shutter down , I think that should work , it does with the water drops .

your rose is enviably lit....the color saturation is just right.....

i think snapdragon had some very good advice on setting your focus on the ring.......unless it was intentional, i would suggest a background free from the distractions of the diagonal line.....

good concept an image......but, i suspect an even better image is in the making....repost if you do decide to reshoot
