Default Abandoned Rails

Hello everyone!
This is a new shot, I did last weekend. It was pretty cool weather, so I took my camera and go outside, just by myself in companion with my MP3 player (which is by the way, very cool way to give you the mood, imho). Anyways, this pic was taken while wandering on the rails. I've tweaked the colors and the contrast, and I am again, open to all suggestions.

p.s.: I hope the EXIF data remained intact.

I love rail shots! This one has nice DOF and the surroundings almost look painted like. The wire in the air is distracting to me. I think the horizon if off a couple degrees too.
It looks like you got this right before a turn?
If so did you get any from the far left rail following the bend?
I think shots like this should go in a set with a couple others showing the area in different ways.

Great shot! But I think there's to much midtones going on and not enough highlight and shadow. Also it looks like it might if been over sharpened, maybe.

The picture was taken in an intersection, I've got more pictures of the rails, but this was the one I liked the most, I might upload more to flickr anyway.
I didn't even noticed the wire, and you are right, it is distracting a bit for me too, but this is what so cool about this forum, you'll know what to look when you take your next shot

dande,

I too am a sucker for rail shots...particularly close down on it like this. Tracks provides such great line and perspective elements in photos. Yeah, I saw that little poopy wire too; but your photo subject is really strong and finding a track switching point (or whatever you call it) demonstrates a good eye and shot planning.

Nice job! Say, I found your exif on flicker but I think putting it conveniently in your post is more efficient for reviewers. Thx.

I love rail shots! yours is a super one!! I took this one of my daughter on an old abandonded railway a few months back with her little nikon L10 and I just love it. I do think my horizon is off but I love how the shot shows the curve of the rails. I think that is what another post was talking about by showing further down the tracks so our eyes can wonder down with it.

Me likes it! It would be nice to get the wires and telephone pole out of the background! But it is a nice photo!

Like the motive a lot. Good framing, although I agree that the wire should have been edited out. Since the picture seems a little bland colorwize, perhaps it would look better as a black and white, perhaps even with the contrast bumped up a bit.

Pooks, whenever assuming traintracks are unused, check the surface for rust. If no rust, watch out. I don't see any rust on the tracks in your post. Be careful out there, and keep on posting.

Default Trains Planes and Automobiles

"Trains Planes and Automobiles" - Was that the name of the John Candy movie many years ago? Anyway trains make great subjects and anything that makes me think of trains does too so tracks automatically work. I liked the leading lines of your track shot. The wire in the background would be easy to clone out if it really bothers you but it is a part of the world of trains almost as much as track is so maybe in one way it belongs there. Thanks for showing us.
