Default bird house

I have some huge gorgeous oak tree's on my land and I also love taking night shots. This is one of the many bird houses I have hanging in these tree's. I want to show off the different colors in the bark as well as the moss and ferns growing out of the tree branches, I did have my shutter speed at -6882643/1000000. Should I leave it open longer to let in more light or just use more strobes??

I kind of like the current feeling the photo has due to light. But it is definetly too dark. I think moving the bird house to the right of the photo would help, so it wouldn't be centered in the photo. Adding more strobes would probably help a bit, though I'm no expert on this.

Great idea! Change up the composition a bit to show more of the branch in the background. And tonight I will use more strobes. Thanks for your input

Actually, I'd move the bird house to the left side of the photo, as the bird house points off to the right, making my eye want to move in that direction.

pooks,

On separate threads, not in the same post. You are now pushed back to Page 4 because of all the people who have decided to load up as many photos as they want. None of you are going to get much Critique this way; it now takes anywhere from four to 8 hours to go through all your submissions. Someone put up 4 in less than 25 minutes, without realizing how long it takes others to look at, consider, then comment on just one photo. If you aren't getting good feedback, only post one photo a day. This isn't a contest to see who can get the most posts on Critique.

I am sorry. I thought that posting a new thread would be hogging the threads. I was mistaken. Wont happen again

I think people are posting more often just because of the contest.

I like what you are trying to do in these photos, but I think the trees lend themselves as much as a focal point of interest along with the bird house. IMO the bird house needs less flash so that the trees can stand out a bit more. Maybe tone down the flash, or use a flash light to highlight the bird house shortly before your shutter is ready to close again.

I also like the composition of the top photo better than the bottom one.

Thanks Denise, I didnt use flash at all, just really kept the shutter open for a LONG time. Used my flashlight to paint the tree as well as the house. I think I kept it open too long and used the light too much. I like the one of the house on top of the branch too.
