Default Waterfall Troll

I was back at my habitual stream trying to get a decent shot this morning when I noticed this grumpy old guy staring back at me. I think he wants me to stop taking his picture.

30D + 24-105L, Manual, Tv 1/6, Av 6.3, ISO 200, tripod and timer

Please, any compositional or technical C&C welcome. Also, any hints as to how to clone out the branch on the left side are welcome- I've tried it a couple of times but it just doesn't work. I rather think he's put it there so I'd get frustrated and rack off.

I dont have any advice, I love the Photo
About the Branch...I dont know, could you maybe try and cut if off :P? I guess cloning it out is quite difficult because of the differences in the water behind it...

Also I would try shooting at a slower shutter speed, like a few seconds maybe.. (mainly because I think water + long exposures looks great :P)

Funny you should say that........LOL Unfortunately National Parks take a dim view of people cutting down trees to improve their photos. They have no sense of humour!

Thanks for the advice and support!

Hey- that's better than I got. I was trying to use the clone stamp. I'll have another go with the healing tool. Thanks!

It's a good shot, even though that branch is there. I just don't care for how overexposed the right side of the waterfall is, though I know this is a difficulty when doing long exposure shot of waterfalls. I'd try taking an ND filter or two along the next time for a waterfall shot.

Nice shot. I definitely see the grump! Could do without the branch as it distracts from the "troll".

the_camera_poser,

Your shot with the branch draws me to the face, and I see the troll faster. Without the branch and your explanation, not sure I would have seen it.
