Its an interesting take as you usually see these shots facing upward. Kudos on your orginality. Sadly tho there doesnt seem to be enough in focus to make it an interesting shot. Can you share with us the settings you had your camera on?

I like what you are trying to do here, but the lower left blur section of the photo, where there appears to be a bit of grass, is drawing my attention for some reason, taking my eye away from the tree.

if it were me, I would have backed off of the subject a bit more, then brought your focus in on the tree. If that makes any sense at ALL! haha!
![]() just to show more of the tree but also including more blurred background. Not sure that I am making sense, but in my head it is working! kinda scary! lol

Luftschiff,
Hi. You titled this photo "Tree." What I think you saw and wanted to capture is a limb scar of a tree. So my instincts tell me that this would have been good to take straight on (close enough to see bits of lichen) positioned to lead the eye with bokehed background. Feel free to tell me if I am out of my tree.

As this tree is right next to my house I will be able to reshoot it considering your tips.. Windrider: The settings I took it with are : iso 200 f/3.5 and 1/160 sec(I now realize I could have set the iso to 100 but I was too lazy to change it :P) pooks: I will try that ![]() geotography: That was what I wanted to show and I will also try your approach
