Hey everyone.

My first post here at DPS. Glad i found such a place as i got my first DSLR for Christmas and have recently been out playing around trying diffrent things.

Would just like some critique on the following shot.

Added a slight yellow filter on Photoshop lowering the opacity down to around 12%

Don't be afraid to throw some comments at me, its the only way i learn

Url's work, but with the extra heavy traffic we've had here recently, you may get some "passby's" because of the link. Just an explanation in case. The yellow you added has given an overall orangeness to the water. Sky might have worked, but water, not so much. If only you had included a subject. I see "Rocks" and I think "These will need to be fantastic rocks to hold a viewer's attention." It isn't a strong subject. Not bad as photos go, just a detail or two gone astray. Find a friend to sit on a rock, don't use filters yet, try to post a photo, not just a link.

I disagree actually, I am a fan of the subject and the eerie nature the long exposure gives the sea.

I love the crop also, I would definately have this on my wall

Not bad for someone who has been shooting SLR's for years, let alone someone that got their first at christmas!!!

I do agree with the poster above about the filter colour though, it doesn't seem to add anything. A more natural colour would suit the subject better in my opinion.

It does have a sort of ethereal aurora to it. Being a sci-fi fan I really like that particular aspect of your photo. Jiminy brings up a few good points though, a subject would help out quite a bit.
