Hi snapperboy:
Photos are taken to tell or express something. Here I think you want to make us feel the mood on the monkey about being inside a Jail. I must say that in my opinion you achieve that.
I only think that if you want to add some drama to the picture, you should try to convert it to a black and white photo. Just be careful to don't use desaturate option only. There are several way to do a black and white conversion and a good technique definitely will pop it more.

they are pretty much the same except for the noise and i gave mine a cold filter
i find if i do a black and white i like having a little noise added for feeling

I love the shot both ways. Each has a very different feel to it. I think however some pink nail polish would really do the trick!

Yup....some little differences. Grain or noise can add a nice touch of drama as it does in your picture.
