Default A beautiful view, but a good picture??

I took this picture last summer. I like it, but something just doesn't feel right. What could I have done better?

I mean if I had to nitpick, maybe a bit of space on the right so that tree's branch isn't cut off. And maybe same thing for the foreground bushes. But that's me being silly. This is a great shot.

Great shot! I can't think of anything to improve!

Thumbs up Great Colors!

This is a very good picture of the landscape. The color saturation appears to be just right.

Nitpicking here, I see two things that come to mind:

1) The foreground, I felt was a little too busy. The tree in the foreground is definitely a plus point. Personally I would've avoided the bushes.

2) The slope of the land (moving from left to right in the picture), makes it look like the picture isn't straight at frst glance.

Other than these two minor aspects, the entire picture is very good. The cloud formations in the sky is a great addon!

Great shot! This is only a suggestion because with scenery like this, you could shoot from any angle and it still look good. Did you try stepping far enough to your right to free the tree from the background?

Great colour and use of a foreground element, but I think the problem is that the photo looks tilted which is probably because of the land. Also the rule of thirds isnt being paid attention to here. You placed the horizon right dead center of the photo and what happens is it looks as though you dont know which shot you wanted, the horizon or the desert. Try a crop to give the image more of a panoramic feel.

Thank you all so much for the comments! I wish I had taken more pictures there, but this was the only one. I know what you mean about having the feeling the horizon isn't straight.. But this is as straight as it was! I also tried to crop, but it didn't make it look better in my opinion.

I'm glad everyone likes it! The things you mentioned were exactly the things I didn't like in the shot. I'm always very critical of my own work. I've been a member of this site now for a week or so and already know so much more than before!

I'd play with cropping it into a panoramic- can we edit it for you?

I've been studying your picture and trying to figure out what it is about it thats just not quite there. I think I have found it. My eye wants to look at the rock formations closest to me, the ones on the right. The tree obstructs this. Maybe had the tree been on the left it would not be fighting for the spotlight. My only other thought are the cloud shadows, the light/shadows may work better in a different position on the ground...so basically letting the wind change the lighting for you.

I do like the shot, I think it's the battle for attention between the tree and closest rock formation.
