I don't really understand this shot. Am I looking at the moon or am I looking at the leaves?

The leaves are out of focus and I don't think they can be saved other than shooting again. I would certainly be interested in any ideas on 'saving' them!

I agree, there's 2 subjects here competing for the focal point. and my eye keeps bouncing back and forth form the moon to the green leaves. I think you almost got 2 different photos here.

It would be pretty hard to stop those leaves at night like that. What you could try doing is combining two images. Expose for the trees then expose for the rest of the scene like you did in the image. Then use photoshop or something similar to replace the trees with the image of the trees exposed how you want.

What you could try to do for the trees is

1. Up your iso all the way to the max
2. Open your lens up to the widest apature
3. Under expose the photophotograph and take a look at the results then adjust your exposer from there.

The problem is it's dark out and the shutter has to stay open longer to gather enough light. If there is wind outside it's going to move the leaves of the tree thus making them blury.

Once you have the trees exposed stop your lens back down, drop your iso back down and take another exposer for the whole scene.

If you just stop your lens down and up your iso that may work as well for just one image but you will lack depth of field in the photograph and it will look very soft not to mention you will have a lot of noise in the image.

If you up the iso just for the exposer of the trees you will see the noise in the trees but it probably won't be that bad since you will be masking off that exposer and using the longer one for the rest of the scene.

Hope this helps

I would personllay crop the whole thing out. There are too many things going on in this picture to make it interesting. Cop it down to just past the water line, and then you'll have to clone out the poles. See what you think

I think that I would crop so as the pic only included the water and moon- I agree with too much in it.

the leaves aren't out of focus, they're blurred because it was probably windy during the exposure.

i have to agree with others; there's no focal point and too much going on. it would have been nice to not see the house/trees and just get the water/clouds/moon. or maybe if you cropped and cloned out a LOT so there was just the dock/reflections in the water and left the top alone.

to me the centre bottom section almost looks like it was dropped into a different picture. The poles really "cut" it away. I think I agree with the others... to crop to just your intended subject - the moon.

I agree with windrider, you have a beautiful sky and water. See if you can crop just below the horizon and clone the poles out.

Dunno where this is but I'm crazy enough that given the opportunity, I'd winch myself up that left flagpole for a second chance.
