silhouette on mountain top

I took this whilst up the top of the Kaiser Wilhelm Statue in Germany (see pic on My Flickr page)

It was a very cold, wet, misty day up the top of the large hill so no good views available. You can just see the hills in the distance on the right

I saw this group of visitors protecting themselves from the weather and thought it made a good shot

Had my wide-angle lens on so just went to portrait to capture the statue housing etc and converted the image to black and white

I know the angles are great and it would have been better is the group was in the middle but any suggestion on how to improve this please?

Thanks

I might try cropping down a bit from the top -- the mass of the thing at the top kind of unbalances the shot a bit for me, and maybe takes too much focus from the people below.

I think the group of people on their own would make a great shot -- lots of mist/fog pics end up disappointing, but this one has a very nice feel to it.

Bateryman1970,

There is some detail left in the pillars of the monument, and a little color in the hillside, but the people are distorted by the lens, and cut off. First thing I'd try is to enlarge the people with attached landscape, almost fill the space between pillars, make them the obvious subject. There's enough detail as a silhouette to make it worth a try.

I wish you had a touch more room at the bottom (basicly their feet and a little ground), I think you could loose just a little bit at the top. I like the people framed by the arch, but I think the black mass at the top is distracting.

I like the feeling the image gives me. Very nice atmosphere.

Wow I love this photo, really beautiful. Something you could do is desaturate the photo and clone out the small bush in the bottom left. I think i would look really pretty after that.

i think it's a real cool idea!
i'll echo what other's have said. it'd be nice if the people's feet were in the shot. if possible enlarge them so they fill up a bit of the empty space in between the pillars. the pillars also have a little bit of detail. try to bring that out or eliminate it completely.
overall i like it. you did a good job of capturing fog and not blowing it out.
