Default Attempt at a product shot

I thought I would take a shot of my microphone as if it were a product shot so to say. This is all artificial light, warm on the left from using a box lid as a reflector from the ceiling fan light, and the cooler light from the right is an LED flashlight. I think it came out pretty good but would like other's thoughts. The only photoshopping was to remove the mic boom. I do see a fingerprint or smudge on the mic itself though. Up top in front of the screen...you see it? Yeah, I ought to touch that up I guess.

Nobie,

Hey! Is this thing on? Microphone joke.

Nice and crisp. Please share with me how you did your background. And, forgive my ignorance: Is the F100 your lens and I presume that is a fixed focal length, prime?

Actually, the background is wall in my studio/office/den/hideout. It's about 5 feet behind the mic. The F100 is my film Nikon. I used the Nikon D70 and I believe on this shot it was the AF-S Nikkor 18-70mm 1:3.5-4.5G ED DX in manual focus. I'm horrible at taking note of my settings, something I'll have to improve on if I plan to post in the forum here that requires such information. This shot was about 24 in. from the mic.

Thank you both for the compliments! This is new terrain for me.

Some photo software lets you look at the EXIF data, settings that run with the original photo

I like how it is angled from lower left to upper right. Lighting is good, no distracting background shadows, sharp, fills the photo nicely. Excellent shot.

Where can I find this info? From my Nikon it goes into my Mac via Image Capture where I download them. From there, they go to Photoshop where I will do as little post-production as possible, and then resize for web use. I've never looked for EXIF data, I don't even know what the acronym stands for.

Ahhh, found it. If I pull up a shot in Nikon View it lets me see all that technical stuff.

For those that care:
Camera: Nikon D70
Focal Length: 65mm
Lens: 18-70mm F/3.5-4.5G
13 sec. - F/20 (I believe I had my ND 4X filter on)
ISO 200

...is that the information people would want to know or is there more or less I should share?

Nobie,

Some Critique may be based solely on the technical stuff, so valuable advice may be gained by giving at least those you've added. Your introduction was also an important part: how you arranged the lighting, what editing you may have performed, what you believe needs work, and your basic question about the photo. All of that helps.

All this needs is a product description and a price. Is it for sale, and where can I get one?
