I love the catchlight in his eyes and the natural smile. Great depth of field too!

Would it help to mention that some detail could be brought out of the shadows on lower right, if you have a reflector placed low, bouncing light upward? Works well without causing face to go too light with flash.

Nice work! What was your light source? Happy to see Lori noticed the catchlights! Imagine the shot without them!

Thanks for the comments. We were next to a parking area in the forest with late afternoon sun in Sept.
