Hi folks,
I was at Liberty State Park, NJ over the weekend and I came upon this big chunk of steel beam. This steel beam was twisted like a pretzel I didnt take much shots at it. It was very emontional just be near it. ![]()

This would be great if the sky wasnt so blown but thats a hard thing to over come when shooting what appears to be a nice bright day and the subject is already dark to begin with.
I have to say DOF is throwing me off....open it up a bit more and get the beam up to the flags in focus and let the rest blur behind it..... I've yet to get to the memorials around NY but would love to see them....Im sure its a site to see.

Curvature leads the eye straight to the flag, very nicely done.

2nd this comment. go back when the sky is more interesting. the blown out sky ruins the shot.

About the blown' sky...Its kinda hard to do, Im suck at it.
![]() If try rendern the sky, I know the steel beam probably going be black out. So, I rather get blowin out of the sky then the dark patch on the steel beam(my intention to shoot the beam in th 1st place).. Thanks for all the comments guys...much appreciated. ken

you can go back on a day when the sky isn't overcast, go in during dusk and do a longer exposure, bring a circular polarizer/ND grad filter to help the sky, or do some light painting when it's dark.
not hard to do. taking the best photograph often involves finding that 'moment' to shoot. it can't always be done right then and there. be patient. Quote:
