this was taken about two hours after the sun went down, its a shot of the local ski resort night skiing. ISO 100 f22 30 second with a tripod from a few miles away. Lens is a 70-300mmI cropped the heck out of it, and adjusted the color from more of a blue to this. I tried longer exposures and came up with more light, but too much camera shake, I dont have a remote just yet.

Wow... I love the colours. I'm guessing that the light that looks like the sun is actually floodlighting?? I think the composition is great and the softening effect on the sky is brilliant.
A good work-around for your slow exposures is to use the cameras delay timer, 2 or 3 seconds is all you need but 10 seconds is better. This way you compose the shot, hit the trigger and remove your hands, the mirror lifts (assuming D-SLR) and the camera stabilises before opening the shutter. Assuming you have a reasonably solid tripod, you should see good results.

great idea with the delay timer...yet again something totally simple that never even crossed my little mind! The light in the center is flood lighting for the ski resort. Thanks for the input guys.
