Default autumn spider

I was taking pictures of autumn leaves couple of months ago when I saw this spider. This is actually the shadow of the spider on the other side of the leaf it was sitting on.

This is a shot I like a lot, but is it good enough to put in my portfolio for the art academy? What do you think?

Very top left there's that one little shadow. And what's with that line that looks like his leg is bent backwards? It's driving me nuts trying to figure out what's going on there. Otherwise I quite like it. The colors are great and I kinda like the framing.

I'm not sure which line you mean.. Maybe it is because this is the shadow of the spider through the leaf but some parts of him are sticking out?

One of my faults -- I am a skimmer sometimes when it comes to the narratives accompanying posts (ironic in somebody who cannot post in less than two paragraphs). So I missed the bit about the shadow, and when I saw the photo I thought to myself that the spider looked a bit washed out and could use a bit of contrast. I clicked through to the original to see how it looked larger, and then figured out that the spider was on the other side of the leaf and in silhouette.

All of which is to say, I suggest that if you want to put it into your portfolio, you give it a title which will alert people to the fact that they are looking at a shadow -- or else they may have my reaction and want more contrast in the spider.

This is the line I'm referring to.

Looks to me that the leg in question is wrapped around the leaf so that, unlike the rest of the camera, it is in front of the leaf.

It looks as though the last segment ofhis leg is folded over to the back of the leaf. Putting part of him on one side and his shadow on the other. Good eyes, EL. This shot should go in your portfollio, steffievdakkar. It has good color and contrast. The "Wrap around" leg gives it added interest. Nice shot.

None of the other legs are long enough to do that.

Yes, that's indeed what's up with the leg! I found it hard to explain it, as English is not my first language!
