When I first looked at this I went OUCH!!...My eyes!!...
![]() But seriously, I think the reds could be de-saturated a little and overall contrast boosted to bring out the facial textures and features of the subject a little more. Has the image already been cropped? Perhaps a wider, square crop could work better depending on what else is in the background. Definately the makings of a nice image though....

Whoops, sorry bout your eyes ^_^;
I have tried to remove the 'pain factor' from the red, and have upped the contrast. Sadly the image wasnt cropped, but I have tried a square crop here to see if its makes any difference.
