Good Morning OAS125,
Like you, I think fruit lends itself to practicing fundamental techniques. The set-up is easy and you can try alot of stuff with just...one lemon and some light. This is a little dark for me but that is an easy fix. The focus is not quite as crisp as I would like...wait let me clean off my glasses and my screen...mmm, that didn't help. A few things that might be fun: cut the lemon, put focused light through it for translucence; try everything with atmosperic light cast that you can conceive. I think, from my level of experience (beginner's mind), I would say you have a nice DOF (depth of field). Cheers!

A single lemon (or any other pirce of fruit or vegetable) is going to be a real challenge to present by itself. You are better off trying to select a feature of the fruit such as skin texture or patterns of the cross section. To answer your question, yes, it would benefit from a little post work and lightening. A reflector on the side opposite the source of light would have helped as well.

OneArmedScissor125,
Looks good on that side. It just reminds me of a recent post of a tiger from behind. Turning the stem bump up (or even down-pointing) would improve composition.
