Default Fighting green parakeets

2008 Bushy Park Jan 086a

Spent a long time under a tree in the park trying to get some good "action" shots of these birds. Alot of my photos went straight into the delete bin, but a few came out not too bad. My object was trying to get clear, action shots at full zoom on the 100 - 300 DO canon lens. I did cheat by having it on action setting rather than trying to master the AV or TV settings .... but as this is a new camera and I am a bit of a novice, I thought it was more important to get a shot.
How can I improve on this picture?

Thanks for your comments

I think this shot is perfect as is... a very nice capture. You could always try upping the saturation of the parakeets to make them stand out a little more and maybe adding a slight vignette to see how it would look. Perhaps some cropping, though I don't think it's really necessary. Excellent shot overall.

Thanks for your comments, glad you liked it. I did already crop a bit anyway, but didnt want to do too much as it would reduce the pixilation for printing I think. Whats a vignette please? And how would I do it when I know what it is?
Thanks very much.

I think its a great capture. The colors, the movement of the wing, the faces. Very nice. I like the contrast with the dark tree also. Beautiful birds.
