shhh ouch the resolution is so good it looks like a thorny, living caterpillar. I love this 'ghetto lighting.' I never could stand the 'family portrait' techniques

peeperita,

I have one of these on my refrigerator door handle.

Your outtake, someone else's masterpiece. Touching on the left frame is one of those "hmmm?" things. That does get attention, just because it touches there and cuts a fraction off your motivational plant. Otherwise great choices all-around, lighting, rigid vertical, and DOF showing roundness. I stopped before saying "sharp," but, that too.

thanks for your comments....

miacat and the mister.....that plant is about as big around as my forearm and more than three feet tall......so, you know those thorns commanded my attention right away......you should have seen me grooming out the stray pine needles out beforehand with a pair of tweezers....

and jiminy....thanks for the critique.....i was set up on a tripod.....well, the camera was....but, anyway, i bracketed for exposure, depth of field etc.....so, i have a number of images where that edge snips a fraction off some of the thorns.....i have an edit of another.....same everything except for a tweak in the white balance.....that i added a chance of an edge to it that i was happy with......the background's black and forgiving.....i'll try that again with this one......

appreciated....

Only suggestion i have is to give it a lil noise reduction. Even if only at teh black, the full size image shows a bit.

thank you for your critique....

the noise was something i never noticed until you made a comment on it.....i didn't see it at ther size posted here, but when i went into flickr for the larger view....bam...there it was....i don't use noise reduction very often so my hand may be a little heavy....

anyway, this is the edit....
