Default Gras with dew 2

Hello there!

Today i was up early to be out photographing from the minute the sun rised.
I biked to a nearby lake to capture some nature closeups. Inspired by photographs by Michael Stoltze, i was going for subjects with some dew on.

EXIF info:
Exposure: 1/60
Aperture: f/2.8
ISO Speed: 50
Flash: Not fired
Light: Semi cloudy sky with sunrise

I like the DOF on this one. Usually I tend to like the ones that are deep enough to get the entire subject in the shot and this one is so crisp on the dew that the blade of grass is secondary. I might try cropping it a bit more to get rid of some the clutter in the background. Just a bit off bottom and right side.....
Still a great shot....the trick now is to find some dew drops high enough to refract an image inside them and catch that! Like a taller tree with a drop on a leave and have a subject in the background.

Funny you say so, cause i actually already have a version of this image with a crop more like that. I always make several crops of my images, since I'm very new in this world and don't have much experience.

That could be awesome! I will go for that next time i got the chance (probably tomorrow) but it will be hard to get the amount of zoom needed, since im shooting with a non-dslr camera and don't have any other lense than the one built in the camera. Thanks for the tip, as i said above, will definitely try

bearfrieze,

In the "Jumbo Grass," with the blades in various angles tilted in grasslike random directions, the composition felt right. In this photo with the single very vertical blade, it seems more rigid, posed. A little more diagonal angle would keep the looseness of grass in the overall appearance. Dew is fun and can make amazing Macros. Enjoy those early mornings.

@jiminyClickit:
I can clearly see what you mean, i also had a feeling that this composition wasn't the strongest, but i just couldn't figure out why. Thank you!
I did make an additional shot of that same blade, in a different angle with a total different cropping, but i just don't really like it.

bearfrieze,

Mirror-image it, add enough vignette to make the single blade stand on stage alone, and see if the audience cheers
