Default Shorncliffe pier

I am trying to find ways to improve my abilities to take shots iin these bright light, contrasty conditions that are normal around here most of the year. I did overdo the polariser and edited out the worst of it but any suggestions happily received. Thanks

summerbreezing,

Best I can offer is to switch places with you, so I can see closeup what conditions you are having questions about, and you can shovel the snow off of my driveway in a week or two. Fair trade?

For now, some of the blue/green might reduce with a little Lighten and Color Balance with a tic of Magenta.

Jiminy
Sounds reasonable however I have done the 'snow thing' and am very over it. All I want is to be better equipped to take these contrasty water type shots. Good try though!

I don't know if its my monitor calibration or the sky have too much cyan colour.
In scenes like this I would use manual mode and meter portion of the blue sky then lock the exposure and recompose and shoot.

Thanks for that Iman - I will give it a try. The colour problems were the result of too much polarisation. Still getting used to that filter - quite tricky in these conditions I find.

Default Polariser

I read somewhere (not sure where now) that by depressing the shutter half way and rotating the polariser, you can see the effect it will have on the pic and can then adjust accordingly. Have been using this now for a while and it has definately helped me shoot in the harsh aussie sunlight .

Cheers

I turn the histogram on and watch the peak till it moves all the way left.

Thanks for ideas - ready to try all of them to be more confident of using the polariser.
