NIce shot! I like the DOF. I think this would fair well with some post work...maybe a bit of distressing and a bit of vignetting.
G9 is a great camera....Congrats on it and keep on shooting.

Matt,

For a young person, you have captured the aged look of this lock quite well. The focus is very nice and I particularly enjoy the light in the photo. The flat finish on the metal is very good. The photo has a mystery about it...makes me want to know what's inside the garage...probably just a car or stuff, never-the-less, the mystery still remains. What is the brushed, stressed, antique effect in the lower left corner? Is that applied? The suggestion I would have would be to crop the right a bit...play with that and see how you like it. Ultimately it will be what you like.

The lock draws the eye beautifully - Nice Photo!

Thanks darren! I've been reading the blog for a while now so I thought I would post some of my work and see what people would think.

oh and to answer geotography's question, I think that dark spot in the left corner is just a dark spot on the door. It just looks weird.

great job on the exposure and subject.....

if you have a larger original to work with i would suggest a crop that brings the lock out a smidge from the left side of the frame and shaving a bit off the top and bottom.....but that's just me....

great eye on you, mister!....
