NIce shot! I like the DOF. I think this would fair well with some post work...maybe a bit of distressing and a bit of vignetting.
G9 is a great camera....Congrats on it and keep on shooting. Don't mean any offense but if thats you in the avatar you look young! A long life of learning and shooting. Is this hobby a passion for you? We here are DPS have alot of info between all the members and am sure any question you might have someone will have the answer or Nicole will find it! Welcome and enjoy the forums!

For a young person, you have captured the aged look of this lock quite well. The focus is very nice and I particularly enjoy the light in the photo. The flat finish on the metal is very good. The photo has a mystery about it...makes me want to know what's inside the garage...probably just a car or stuff, never-the-less, the mystery still remains. What is the brushed, stressed, antique effect in the lower left corner? Is that applied? The suggestion I would have would be to crop the right a bit...play with that and see how you like it. Ultimately it will be what you like. The lock draws the eye beautifully - Nice Photo!
