I will go first: There is something about the photo that makes me want to keep looking at it; however, I think it's starting to look more like a fake painting than a photo. Perhaps I deeply craved making it feel like a painting. I likely overdid things with this photo. I could not avoid the utililty pole without tresspassing. Please tell me what you think and feel. Thx.

Geo, I think its got a great look to it and the painterly feel is nice with this shot but I would either clone out that pole and lines or to make it more of a subject add two more to either side and dodge them and adding some highlight.
I personally would add them. It tells a story of how we are still connected even in the remote areas......Nice catch!

Thank you xxpinballxx.
I have been hearing the verb "clone" on numerous occassions and I certainly will do the research on "cloning" in time. I presume that such a technique is done with more advanced software i.e. photoshop. At present I am using only Picasa2 and Faststone and have not yet graduated to the more sophisticated ware. Comments?

One comment: try GIMP.
Free software, tons of power and functionality. Not Photoshop, and there is a learning curve, but considering that it is opensource there is no arguing with the value.

Download GIMP and start playing. Its a free app with quite amazing capabilities similar to photoshop which is expensive. There are many GIMP tutorials also so you should be able to google and find out alot or you tube for actual video tutorials.
Cloning is simply taking a reference point and using that area to cover a spot the same size in the image. Like cloning out a bird in the sky you would just reference a point in the sky then roll mouse over bird and click. It takes the spot of sky and places it over the bird. The size of the spot can be adjusted for size and feathered for smoothness of transition. I would definitely use GIMP if I didnt have CS3.
