Default Neighbour's Kid

KId
ISO 400, 1/30sec, f/1.8, 50mm.

It's a crop from this photo, taken from my nifty-fifty (f/1.8).

I was photographing the surrounding semi-urban landscape with my dad's observation when my neighbour and her son came over and chatted. Now why so many articles state that child photography is difficult-- THEY NEVER STOP MOVING!

I'll need crits on my framing/cropping, and other general comments. I know the WB is off, but I like the tungsten-ish lighting reflecting off his skin.

Thanks for reading!

Well done for getting him to stay still!! Personally, I like the top one best. It has a nice tight crop on the boys face, a good amount of space to the right. All together its a nice capture, well done.

Thanks MrLee (: They're both the same picture, but the top one has a tighter crop, that's all.

Love your crop and the pic overall - would be a great b&w I think, and I'd love to see a play with some of that yellow pulled out.

Hi,

I also really like the crop. The lighting looks a bit odd in the full photo but suits the style of the tight crop. I'd probably like to see a little more DoF - might just be my eyes but it seems like the eyes are softer than the nose when really for this type of photo you need sharp eyes - easier said than done I know!

I'd probably also go for a faster shutter speed even if you have to bump up the iso 1/30th is really pretty slow to catch a toddler with.

Overall there's something really lovely about this shot.

Thanks for the comments guys! I really appreciate them =D. I was shooting in AP mode, so maybe I should switch to Tv mode next time.
