Hope the "It's the Holiday Season" assignment got you into the festive mood of the season. There were quite a few ties for this assignment, definitely a difficult week for the judges!
We had a joint first place this time. One goes to Obijuan for his magical "A Fairy Took My Wine" "Nice use of long exposure, stands out among the other shots, and, like Wulf said, captures a little of the magic of the holiday season." "... pleasantly whimsical. Which is just what wine is supposed to do!' Our other first place was Bruce A's "Changi POW Survivor" ![]() "...poignantly captures the more sombre side of the season" " Reminds us that holidays are about family and they are not always happy times. Nice faraway look in his eyes as his mind lies elsewhere. Blue eyes and matching blue shirt a nice touch." "That story brought tears to my eyes and left me with a very sad heart. A reminder that the holidays aren't always about Santa Claus and happy moments. My heart goes out to him." Continued on next post. Even admins and mods are restricted in how many images we can put in one post .

And in a three way tie for second were:
jonsim and his "Christmas in California" ![]() " Not your typical holiday shot, at least from my area, but I like the "tree" at the end of the pier. Holidays look different around the world." "Holidays are Family" by xfile001 ![]() "Not everything about Christmas is Norman Rockwell. Not the best shot, a little cluttered and I wish there was more emphasis on the child, but I understand the difficulties of urban portraits. The choice of b&w is good and it shows a part of the holiday we may not always want to see." And last, but not least, "Turkey" by debsij

Many thanks to the mods and congratulations to the other winners. My F-I-L will be very pleased his photograph won an assignment.
And thank you for your very nice comment Linda. Sorry the story saddened you and some others, but it was only meant to give meaning to the image. My poor father father -in-law was unsuspecting when I took the shots so the look was genuine and more reason for my motives.
