Default Assignment: "My Best Shot of 2009"

I've only had my DSLR camera for 6 months so I don't have a lot of shots to choose from. If I'm remembering correctly, this was shot in monochrome and I was surprised when looking at the EXIF data that the focal length is 250.0mm (YiKES)! I'm choosing this one because of the composition and the detail in the fabric and cording. I've learned a lot by participating in these assignments...Thank you!

Hammock on Cottage Porch

Taken: November 5, 2009
Aperture: f/6.3
Shutter: 1/20 0.05 sec.
ISO: 200
Exposure Mode: Auto
Focal Length: 250.0mm
Flash: Did not fire, compulsory mode
Lens: Canon Kit Lens

Default Assignment : "My Best Shot of 2009"

There are few photos I really likes and I know I'm still learning how to control all the setting. Last weekend when it was snowing I was trying to capture the snow falling and this pictures did just that ( I think), just wish the snow flakes was bigger when I took this pictures. The back ground are my children.

Falling snow

Exposure : 0.002 sec (1/500)

P.S. Just want to thanks DPS and all the members, you guys help me grow and learn a lot in photography this past few months and hope to learn a lot more in the future. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!!

Default Assignment : "My Best Shot of 2009"

That best picture of 2009! That's really a tough one. Looking through all of my picture, I notice a picture that never really sticked out to me. But i think it just fits perfectly to the year 2009. Many issues, economic crisis, new us president, many people lost their jobs, companies went bankrupt and so on, are going to make the year 2009 memorable. There was a lot to write about and to inform the people. It must be a really hard burden to deliver the news paper in the morning, knowing that it is no good news once more. A really symbolic picture I guess and it also tells a lot of stories. That's why I have chosen this one.

Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel

Focal Length: 65 mm
ISO Speed: 100

Default Assignment: My Best shot of 2009

I chose this one for a couple reasons... 1, because I love how it seems to tell a story. And 2, because this shot is really what got me going big on doing photography after it made the top 8 grand prize winners in the local newspaper's photo contest

Now On Tour...

Camera Model: Samsung S860
Shooting Date/Time: April 28 2009
Shooting Mode: Close-up
ISO: 200
Shutter Speed: 1/2 sec.
Aperture: F/2.8

exuberant

After viewing a Strobist tutorial, I lost myself for an entire morning in water drop shots. It was all new to me: the lighting, the set up, the patience required. This shot opened a whole new kind of photography to me.

I struggled with choosing one, because my *favourite* shot is not my *best* shot. Here's the one I think is the best:

Default Assignment: "My Best Shot of 2009" Dec. 16-30

This is around 2 weeks after I took up photography, sometime in october...I was struggling with maintaining a high shutter speed as well as keeping the picture bright! Didn't know much about aperture, shutter speed and ISO back then. So when after around 20-25 shots this came out kind of the way I wanted it to come out I was pretty excited. This is the 1st 'professional' looking photo I captured !
PS: And I like the fact that I can see myself in the droplet found it very cool and was purely accidental !

Letting Go..
