Oh man, this assignment was tough. I chose this shot because it has so many things working for it. The power lines really add to the composition, as do the trees on either side. The bird almost makes the shot.

I had a hard time picking one picture but finally settled on this one. I took this picture at my uncles wedding, it is of the brides father.
I don't know if pictures edit in such away are acceptable in the assignments/contests but this is one of my favorite photos from this year. ![]() EXIF: Model: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XT Shutter Speed: 1/320 second Aperture: F/5.6 Lens: Canon 70-200 mm f/2.8L IS Focal Length: 200 mm ISO Speed: 100 Date Taken: Jan 12, 2009, 1:39:30 PM

It's gotta be this one:
![]() It's taken in a tunnel that's still under construction. There were guided tours on this particular day and I went way out of my comfort zone to take it. Nothing I normally take pictures of and in a huge crowd of other "tourists"... Not my cup of tea at all. But I'm glad I joined, 'cause the tunnel had some very photogenic areas, such as the one shown above. Hi guys,
First of all, I'll say it out loud that I am a newbie at photography. Of course I have taken photos before but not in this artistic way. This photo that I'll share with you is one of my favorites. Although it's fairly new, it's really one of my best shots so far. I have been a fan of sunset shots and wanted to try it myself. But my home is situated where there is not enough good view of the sky (there are many power cables and such to ruin the shot). So I decided to get on my car and go to this newly developed subdivision. Being new means less houses and buildings to block the sky. I've taken a lot of photos but this one...I'm really proud of... ![]()

![]() Got the idea from the DPS website. Thanks to DPS member Eric Nelson for the idea. Experimented with different exposures and played with shadows and contrast in post processing. This is a slightly edited version of the original. I straightened the mirror and cloned the seat belt out. I like this shot because though it has flaws I experimented and got a lot of things right with it (which is rare for me). I entered it into a local contest and won second place with it. So I'm pretty proud of it. Thanks to all of the great members here who answer questions and post comments. They really are a great help to us newbies. Camera: Pentax K100D Exposure: 30 Aperture: f/13.0 Focal Length: 18 mm ISO Speed: 200 Exposure Bias: 0 EV Flash: Off, Did not fire
