Santa Claus Is Coming to Town

This was taken today 12/23/2009 around 9 am or so. Unfortunately I just got my camera about three weeks ago and didn't set the date. There has been so much to learn with it that I thought it was already set. I can't even figure out how to include the metadata. So even though this probably won't count in the contest I thought I'd post it anway cause I thought it was kind of neat. This was also taken with Nikon D5000 with a 55-200mm VR lens

Default Assignment: Holiday Memories

This "holiday memory" is a good reminder for me about the true meaning of Christmas, redemption. Redemption from sin and redemption from death. Every December 23rd a local cemetery in my city puts out candles in paper sacks and places them by the headstones of many of the graves. It's a quaint little drive and one to help remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Exposure: 4.0 secs
Aperture: f/5.6

I used a six-pointed star filter on my camera. I love how it not only gave the flames rays, but it also turned them into mini stars of David.
