Thank you! I took my EOS 20D and my EF 100-400 on that trip, and went out every day to shoot those darned pelicans - I had about 800 shots of them when I got home. Boy did I learn a lot! I had no idea it would be so hard. I really didn't realize what a challenge the lighting was - I ended up having to use ISO 1600 on everything. And if I didn't use a high shutter speed they all blurred. This particluar shot was TV of 640.
Out of the 800 shots I brought back of these birds, I had a dozen I thought were of a passing grade, and they were all on the last couple days after I had done it for ten days in a row. ![]() Persistence and large CF media - that's what it takes.

I really like the muted colors. The picture gives me a feeling of calm and tranquility. The trees in the forground remind me of a bonsai. I like your picture alot.

I also love the contrast between the tree and the soft background, beautiful picture. Let's see more drt205.

![]() neat assignment! I took this at Cannon Beach, I forgot my Rebel, so I used my back-up a canon sd500 point and shoot. I really think that forgrounds are really important, going back through my photos I tend to like them more with the forground in them. |

I like your picture. I like how the wooden fence draws your eyes out to the large stone on the horizon. Even the roof edge frames the large rock making it look like a picture within a picture. The red flowers adds color and contrast to the mostly brown and blue background. Nice composition. Last edited by drt205; 02-13-2007 at 10:10 PM. |
