Would the juxtaposition of the light rock vs the dark shadow in the front of this picture qualify it as foreground detail? Does the eye anchor there first and then slid up through the patchwork of shadows and end in the sky?

Light to dark

Not sure if I have a firm grasp on this feature.

Stupid lazy birds. Rats with wings my friends.

Chicago with snow and birds

I took this on a Nikon D70 with my trusty 50mm lens. It was shot at 1/2000 sec at f5.

I like this alot. Whenever I try taking reflection shot like this, I never get it right. You found the perfect angle on this. I can't believe you did this hand-held.

I had to keep backing up to get the full building and reflection in the picture. This was taken handheld - I love shake reduction.

Oni,

I'm stuck on where you took this from. Then I notice my attention goes quickly to the richer colors of the upper middle rock formation where the sun strikes through the clouds. After that it's a kind of swirl from light to dark.

The light rock IS in front, it IS detailed, and it DOES point into rest of photo. So, yes.

Default Think then shoot

I am new to the form, the easy things are sometimes overlooked. Watch the ball when playing tennis--easy--then why do so many tennis players not do that each and every time. Pay attention to forgrounds, also easy but I find I often don't do that. Here is a photo I remembered to do so. Sorry, my photo did not upload.

[QUOTE=jiminyClickit;8515]Oni,

Jiminy, if you are asking where I took this picture, it was on my way back from the Great Dane Nationals, when I stopped in Bryce Canyon. I hung way over a guard rail and shot down from a tall lookout area. Don't worry, I was using over 300 pounds of Danes as an anchor. Sit....STAY....PLEASE!

Hi Wulf,
Thanks for your comment. You are right all the way. I could have focussed just on one boat and the mooring so that the rope would have been clear and led the eyes to the boat.
Thanks for your tip. I must read the post on Gettting down low and dirty again.
Good Day
