Hello all, my name is Michael Block. Glad to be part of the community.

Just bought a Nikon D3000 camera last month. Came with the 18-55 VR lens and the 55-200 VR lens as part of the package. Having a lot of fun with it so far.

I confess to being a total n00b when it comes to photography though. I can get away with taking a few decent pictures in the green mode, but have a lot to learn in M mode.

I have a picture to enter into the contest, this is me just taking a picture of my lava lamp and basically dancing around

Okay you really had me going there for a bit! LOL Good one

So far I'm really liking this one. Without the description I can't identify the subject, so it's just a nice abstract image with shapes that are well proportioned with respect to the frame.
