When I got the email today about this week`s assignment about the economy, I looked around and saw this brass and marble Dollar sign paper weight I used to sell.

And I ask myself, what would represent the economy better than its icon? So here it is.The almighty(sigh...) Dollar sign.

Now is this economy or what?

You made my heart break. I know because of the economy many animals are suffering and have lost their homes too. In the past two months I took in two wonderful cats from a shelter. They now have a permanent home at my farm.
Great photo and message, sunmallia, and kudos to you, swedishwitch, for adopting and providing for two homeless kitties. In California, thousands of people are losing their homes to foreclosure, struggling with unemployment and facing mountainous debt due to lack of affordable healthcare. Their pets pay dearly: Many are left abandoned along with the homes, many more are surrendered to already over-crowded shelters. Now shelters are turning away surrenders because there is just no space available, leaving the owners to instead abandon their pets in the streets, hoping someone will take them in or animal control will pick them up as strays. I do rescue here in the bay area and we simply can't keep up with the exponential increase of cats and dogs left homeless or abandoned. Everyday, my heart breaks anew with each homeless dog or cat we have to turn away because there just aren't enough homes for them.

Default Assignment: The Economy

Wanted to capture the feeling that money seems to slip through our fingers all the time. Played around with contrast and levels to make it a bit more dramatic. Hope you like it.

Default Waiting To Roll Over again

The current economy is gaing its strength but still the "Wheel" is not rolling as it should be. When I saw this bike lying alone I thought this bike is also waiting for a rider which will allow it to rule the road again. So lets hope that "Rider" arrives soon....
