From Shoes to Booze

Assignment: The Economy

The "Economy Shoe Shop" (see sign on front) in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, on November 10, 2009 at 3 pm, is a Cafe/Bar. It has a broken window in the upper right (below which a poorly clad unemployed peers out) and a run down van in front. The "right slant" on this is that these are undoubtedly "Hard Times".

Taken with a Pentax K10D, Pentax SMC DA 18-55 mm 1:3.5,5-5.6 on 10/11/09 at 3 pm, at F8.0, 18 mm, 1/180, ISO 100.

Red face Assignment: The Economy

This is my first assignment post, so I apologize if I make any mistakes. Spain has been one of the hardest hit economies in Europe during the recession, with a lot of people out of work. Walking through the city center, there are a lot of failing shops. This one, with "final days" written so large on the window, seemed symbolic of the situation in this country at the moment.

The Spanish economy

Camera: Canon EOS 40D
Exposure: 1/50 sec.
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 28 mm
ISO Speed: 640
Flash: Off, Not Fired
Date: 2009:11:09

Messed with shadows, highlights, fill light a tiny bit in Picassa and sharpened.
