Ertel one-room schoolhouse (circa 1888) in Sunman, IN, USA

This is my first time posting. I took this photo on a return trip from a mini-vacation this past weekend. Some things caught my eye while I was driving down the interstate so I got off at the next exit and happened upon this wonderful old one-room schoolhouse while I roamed the back roads - serendipity.

This photo is one of a few shots I took. In this one I was trying to get the "E" (for Ertel I assume), the bell tower (with 1888 showing) and the US flag while trying to get the sun peaking over the edge of the roof. Other photos of this site are available at 2009 Vacation - Misc Photos.

EXIF Info:
Camera: Canon XTi
Exposure: 1/500s
Aperture: F5.6
Focal Length: 18mm
ISO: 100
Date and time: 10/25/2009 11:33:27 AM

vacant house, Lawrenceville, NJ USA

First time posting for me as well.

I have driven by this location so many times I had stopped paying attention, but earlier this week while driving by I happened to look over at it and realized that at some point it had been abandoned. It is practically a mansion, but even in an apparently short period of time, it is beginning to deteriorate noticeably. In checking it out, I came upon this odd corner with all these disjointed levels and elements coming together, poignantly punctuated by the waning sunlight and encroaching decay.

EXIF stripped in PSE during conversion from NEF--from the original image:

This was just cropped and was taken as is. I used my canon T1i with the 18-55 mm lens. We were on vacation in Tennessee. I believe this is the Hunter's Art Museum.
