Like much of the rust belt in mid-continental North America many industrial buildings have been abandoned. The building in this submission has been empty for a few years and vine on the building has begun its reclaimation in an effort to compete for sun space.

This is a variation on the urban decay theme ... I call it coastal decay, something very rare in the US. Pleasure Beach where more than 25% of Connecticut's undeveloped beachfront property lies is the state's largest and most recent ghost town:

This assignment is perfect since I just went out and shot some pictures of downtown Phoenix. I checked DPS weekly assignment to see if I can enter any of the ones I took. However, I had only one photo of an abandoned building. This is suppose to be a fancy hotel, but because of the recent real estate crash in AZ, it never matured:
