No - you've understood it very clearly. TWO pictures... some of the above posters need to revisit their entries before next week if they want them considered.

Default ***Assignment: "Two for One"

Jessie the old cross-collie resting in the sun.

From Jessie

Shot with Autobracketing +/- 0.7 hence the differential in exposure times. I've just learned that my camera has autobracketing so it's actually the same shot so there wasn't a need to take 2 pics as such.

Originals loaded in same Picasa Folder

Well my first submission, lets see how it goes

I have three pictures of the same subject, but as stated before two is the limit
I messed up the first photo (should be focused on the animal) but the second one is alright. Manual focus with a very small joystick aint my thing yet. And in the second photo he/she decided to move a centimeter to the left so his/her head isn't exactly in the center of the palm tree. But i still prefer the second one, because the surrounding/background is cleaner. In the first photo (with the correct focus) you can get distracted by the grass/palm tree that is visible.

The are shot 2 weeks ago in Dvur Kralove Zoo.

1/60 sec at f /5.0
66.7mm at ISO 200

1/60 sec at f /5.0
73.6mm at ISO 200

Edit: forgot text about my preferences
Edit2: Link to album with photo three

Both images are sooc and the same as far as camera, lens and settings.

Camera: Canon Rebel XTi
Lens: Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 USM
Exposure: 0.8
Aperture: f/45.0
Focal Length: 300 mm
ISO Speed: 100

Shot in manual mode attached to a tripod.

The first one was shot with no movement. For the second image I zoomed out during the exposure changing the focal length from 300mm to about 200mm.

Default Assignment: "Two for One"

The first photo was shot with the camera in portrait orientation, and the second in landscape orientation. I like the effect just turning the camera had on this photo. The second one is more panoramic, while the first gives more focus on the sky. But I honestly can't pick a favorite.

Taken 8-16-09

Shot 2:

Default Midnight shots

The differance between the 2, is where i pointed the camera. I like the one that is pointed more towards the trees, than the mountains..just saying :P

Taken 8/20/09. I used a Canon S5 mounted on a tripod, natural light, no strobe. I wanted to see the impact of the lowest iso (80) to the highest (1600). The right side feels warmer with all the noise. I know it comes down to personal taste and this is probably not the best example of using noise creatively. But I think when used wisely, noise can be an interesting texture.

EXIF:
left side:
exposure - 0.6 sec.
aperture - f/3.5
focal length - 21.9 mm
iso - 80
right side:
exposure - 1/30 sec.
aperture - f/3.5
focal length - 21.9 mm
iso - 1600

Default Assignment: Two for One

Golden Orb-Weaver in Louisiana Swamp
Golden Orb-Weaver in Louisiana Swamp
Taken with a Canon XSI, with 55-250 IS lens, and with a 430EXII flash.
Both photos are at ISO 100, Aperture f/5.7, and Exposure 1/100, and SOOC.
Landscape photo is at a focal length of 171 mm, and the portrait is at 250 mm.

I greatly prefer the landscape view, as it really brings out the golden web.
I initially thought I'd like the portrait view better, but after getting home (and out of the sun!), I noticed a little bit of camera shake in the portrait view. If I'd used the tripod, of course, that wouldn't have happened. Lesson learned!

Photos taken at the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park, Barataria Preserve, outside of New Orleans, Louisiana. And only my second assignment entry!
