Not sure if another sewing machine picture is allowed... But I figured since it's a completely different angle as the one already posted, it would be OK.
These are "the bowels of the machine": ![]() Date picture taken: July 23, 2009 EXIF Camera: Nikon D40 Exposure: 30 Aperture: f/36.0 Focal Length: 98 mm ISO Speed: 200 Exposure Bias: -2/3 EV Flash: No Flash PP: used ViewNX to change the white balance to "Incandescent" for a more blueish shine.

I always find there's something sombre/sad about a disused machine

A detail shot of my favorite piece of machinery, my Ducati 900SS. The pic is of the clutch plate and cam drive. Basically a standard pic with cross processing and a slight bit of posterization applied in photoshop. I titled it "Essence of Ducati"
![]() When this assignment came up I immediately thought of my bike, then I had to think of how to convey what it is that makes it special. For anyone who knows and loves bikes and air cooled Ducatis, they will understand it is the purpose built brutal mechanics of the machine. The clattering of the dry clutch, the rumble and rattle of the air cooled cylinders and cams. It's the bark of the exhaust and the snarl of the intake. It's not a pretty sexy, it's a gut sense sexy....it stirs something inside you. At least it does for me. I hope this picture conveys something of that. Taken July 23rd Camera: Canon PowerShot G10 Exposure: 0.3 Aperture: f/5.6 Focal Length: 8.1 mm Exposure: 0.00 ISO Speed: 80 Exposure Bias: -2/3 EV Flash: Off Last edited by sk66; 07-25-2009 at 02:33 AM.
