Default Assignment: Humor

This is one of my sons creations. Apparantly its a part bee, part stag beatle type bug. He is named "Dalek Khan", from Doctor Who, which bares no relation at all to any kind of bee or stag beatle.. he just likes doctor who and the daleks! so, why not?

It made me smile

I think this guy is a funny little fellow that can bring a smile but I laugh when I think of how I took it. My husband was driving, my grandson (8) saw this piece of public art and told me to quick take a picture of it. I said no we are going fast in the car it will never work, he said "do it any way.... you just have to trust me on this!" So I took it and he was right, I just have to trust him on this..."

I'm also taking a series of shots this week for the 7 Days group on Flickr. I couldn't make the first couple of days so I'm just contributing five shots this time round and am using the theme of "The Five Senses".

Today's one is "taste". The link to this assignment? Humour is definitely a matter of taste!

7 Days 6 - Taste

Camera: Nikon D40
Exposure: 1/30s
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 90mm (Vivitar f/2.5 90mm)
ISO Speed: 200
Date: 16 July 2009
Lighting: SB600 + daylight

I converted to monochrome using The Gimp by splitting into RGB channels and then blending them. For this shot, I think I had the green channel as the base, the blue channel in screen mode and the red channel in overlay mode (both partly transparent). The bottom part was rather dark so I also added a masked copy of the red channel in screen mode, which lightened things up.
