[QUOTE=monkey_soup;568737]I was taking photos of my friends band at a pub in London a while back. This shot ended up focusing on the singer/guitarist's hand rather than his face. However the fact that he has written the set list on the back of his hand, makes this picture a favourite of mine rather than a total mistake!

I really like this one

Assignment: A Mistake

Crackling Fire

Crackling fire

I used a way too long shutter by mistake, and I had already taken the camera down before the shutter closed. On the way down it passed the crackling fire. I like the way the photo turned out. It's a pretty good impression of the atmosphere.

Exposure: 10 sec (10)
Aperture: f/6.3
Focal Length: 55 mm
ISO Speed: 100
Exposure Bias: -2/3 EV

Default assignment: A Mistake?

so heres one of my many mistakes!!
As an extremely amatuer photographer I love to play around with the settings on my camera and just snap.
At a party one night I wanted to try and catch the atmosphere of the light and dance, unsure of how to take good photos in low light settings I knocked off the flash and upped the ISO just to see what would happen. This was the result:

a light please.2

I love it, I dont think they even knew I took it!

hugs...L

Camera: Panasonic DMC-TZ2
Exposure: 0.8
Aperture: f/3.3
Focal Length: 4.6 mm
ISO Speed: 1250

I am due to photo a friends wedding party on 12th, my very first one, I am sure I will have plenty of mistakes to choose from. Nice assignment topic! Some pretty cool photos uploaded already, GJ people...loved the guitar player, the boys face in the dark and the poor baby who fell down on his head during a sack race (although no big mistake there photography wise, right, IMHO?)....

Default Assignment: Mistake

This photo was a combination of a few mistakes. The ISO was way too high, and the shutter speed too low. I was taking a photo of our dining room, and wanted to shoot it on an angle, which was successful! Not having checked the settings, I overexposed the image, as well as incurred movement from the slow shutter speed. I still liked the effect as it is sort of impressionistic in nature. I added some sharpening to bring out some edges and lines, and I also increased the exposure a bit as the original was too dark. Well, there you have it!

ISO 800/ 18mm/ f 8.0/ 1/40 sec (this photo was taken May 31, 2009)

Assignment: A Mistake

I was trying to make a shoot with a 10 second time delay, but I forgot to disable the burst mode I just used before. So the camera fired nearly 10 fully flashed images, one after another. It was so funny.

Default Assignment: Mistake

Most of my mistakes are immediately deleted so I actually only have the one mistake photograph left hanging around. I already shared it a couple of months ago but I hope you all won't mind seeing it again.

I was photographing the little girl and just as I clicked my shutter I could see the image blur up. I wasn't sure what had happened so I looked at the shot and saw that a large dog had entered the scene. Neither "subject" is clear but for some reason I like it anyway.

Date Taken: 4/25/09
f/4.5
1/100 sec
ISO 80
30 mm focal length

Default ssigvnment: mistake

I took this picture of my son last year, I was trying to adjust my camera settings and keep up with him, obviously I didn't get it right, but I like the effect I ended up with. Kind of reminds me of a watercolor painting. This is straight out of the camera.

Taken Oct 12, 2008

Model: NIKON D50
ISO: n/a
Exposure: 1/13 sec
Aperture: 6.3

Sorry for the small size, I'm in the middle of packing for a move and the original is backed up, I had to download the file from picassa and it's much smaller.

I should have upped the ISO and lowered my shutter speed to get a bit more light in my shot. If I had shot it in RAW I may have been able to fix it more in post edit as well. I now am shooting in RAW. However, I really like the ominous feel of being stalked by this guy. I like that his head is lowered in the shadows like he is getting ready to pounce. That is what these guys do after all, sneak up on their prey. I love it the way it is so I did not change a thing!

I am really stunned by this one...the shadow and light effects are simply gorgeous and (as you already stated) it captures his personality. Mistake or not--I love it!
