Default Assignment: A Mistake

Honeymoon_1107

This is my first post, so please be gentle!

I snapped this picture with my Canon Powershot A360, out the window of the car while on vacation in Gran Canaria. The biggest "mistake" is the tilted horizon and the very poor composition (specifically, the objects that shouldn't be in the frame, like the light pole with the election sign, the other car, missing the top part of the sculpture..) It's also a little underexposed (too dark). Overall, I like the feeling of this photo though because it's unbalanced and sort of flat and eerie - the cloudy sky, the busy sculpture... somehow, it still works for me.

Default Mistake

I was trying to photograph both of my dogs sitting together, side by side. I was using my hand to get their attention, as if I had a "treat," and one of the dogs, Luna, took that as a signal to jump. Her reaction was faster than mine as my synapse had already told my shutter finger to compress. I like the pic though!

Default A Mistake

I took this one morning when my journalism class went out to eat before a competition. My camera was sitting on the table and I accidently hit the shutter. When I looked at it I was sitting next to one of my friends who is also a photographer on my school paper. She looked too, and I remember saying.. "Oops. Delete." But when I hit the delete button I decided to hit cancel instead. My friends who are in the picture were talking about stealing the sign at the time, that's why the girl's finger is pointed at it. They actually did take it which is why I like the picture because it tells a story. But remember, stealing is wrong.

Default Assignment: Mistake

I took this picture at a motorcycle dirt drag in PA on 5-9-09. At first glance in the viewfinder I almost deleted it, but when I looked at it on my computer screen, I kinda like it.
I am not exactly sure why it turned out like this, so any comments are always appreciated.

Talking "Assignment: A Mistake"

EPSN8643

Camera: Epson L-300
Mode: Auto

This photo was all about these 4 gorgeous girls who just barged in our reggae party on
May 30,2009 during the MFSM (Mountaineering Federation in South Eastern Mindanao) 2nd Annual Congress Reggae Party. This shot was a mistake , thanks for my two friends who paused with them then I suddenly pushed the shutter of my camera while waving to them to go away. I just keep the photo as a souvenir for after that the 4 gorgeous girls went away.

souvenirs

I took this in July, 2006 with my old Canon Point-And-Shoot (A80). I was trying to take a picture of the souvenir stand, but I had been playing around with the ISO settings (at the time, I had no idea what that even meant) and had accidentally turned the flash off.

I really ended up liking the shot though- the blur gives a sense of movement in the crowd- the scene that night was pretty chaotic.

Default Focal Point Foul-up

Assignment: A Mistake
Image: Football on Vacation

As you've likely guessed from the title of this post, the focus is all screwy. I had intended to have the my son and brother-in-law in focus with the blur on the deck railing. My camera, it seems, had better plans. I really like the way it turned out and the way the railing frames my son and the "mistake" focus is pretty good too.

EXIF (Let me know if that doesn't work or if I need to post it here.)

I was using Phottix wireless flash triggers which is why it says "flash did not fire" and also the reason I was setting up the flash manually. Two camera's, each with a flash trigger, one flash.

The bride's sister was doing quite well with a P&S and probably had as many photos as I did, but the day after the wedding I received a call that the sisters son accidentally deleted all of the photos, so mine are now the only ones of the wedding/reception.

That is a BEAUTIFUL shot, PLEASE tell me you gave his mother a copy!!
If the rest of her wedding pictures came out like that, then it's probably not *that* much of a problem that yours are the only ones she has.. GREAT job!
