Default Assignment: A mistake

Hi all,
First time poster here. I've been keeping up with DPS for a while now, and I'm excited to finally post!

This picture was taken on my old point and shoot, so I didn't have too many options as far as settings go. My husband and I were on vacation at the beach, and as we were getting in the car, I saw the beautiful sky and palm trees and decided to get a shot. I took a couple close ups and then zoomed out for the last picture. Later, I realized that I accidentally got the reflection of the trees on the car roof. It was my favorite of the bunch!

DPS assignment- A mistake

Exposure- 1/4
Aperture- f/3.2
Focal Length- 5.1 mm
ISO- 800
Flash- Did not fire

Thank you very much!!! I used Photoshop CS4. I shot the picture in RAW, and then I adjusted white balance, exposure, hue, saturation, luminance, and vibrance. I applied heavy sharpenening and then used a plug-in called Adjust 3.

Didn't have the tripod today so I was using a tree as a tripod and accidentally snapped this photo of my husband's back before i had it set up... With a little post work, I really liked it.

Exposure: 0.002 sec (1/500)
Aperture: f/8.0

I was upset because I thought the mistake made me miss a nice moment between grandfather and grandson, but after some photoshopping I came up with this picture. It is now hanging on my wall and for the most part I'm pretty happy with it.

This is just beautiful! What an amazing save!!! All my grandparents are passed and so is my father. What a treasure to have!
Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad you liked it. It is one I treasure as well and I hope my son does when he gets older.

Default Assignment: A Mistake

I don't know it this is acceptable for this assignment but the exif data is missing. I have no idea what happened to it. I took this photo of my niece at a track meet. As you can see the shutter speed was too slow. She told me she could run real fast. The blurred child kind of reminds me of a Super hero kind of thing.
Camera was a Kodak P880.

Default "Assignment: A Mistake"

Wrong shutter speed, over exposed, so much for "rule of thirds" and definitely not the best end of the hummingbird to look at But straight out of the camera (other than resized for web) it still looked good to me. When I look at the photo I love how the mountain fades in the background and the motion of the hummers wings shows just how fast they move.

A quick shot of some friends going by. Forgot to change shutter speed (1/100) so it blurred and overexposed significantly. After playing with the saturation and contrast a bit, I kinda like the result.

Exposure: 0.01 sec (1/100)
Aperture: f/6.3
Focal Length: 300 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Date and Time (Original): 2008:08:02 14:18:17

Canon XTi with 80-300mm IS lens

Assignment: A Mistake
Come Play With Us
Taken: May 20, 2009
Iso: 400
Shutter: 1 second
White Balance: Tungsten
Why: The dolls kept on falling down, so there are two that are on the ground and ones clothes are are falling off, ad that kind of adds to the creepiness. Also in editing i must up and darkened the faces but it just looks like they are like falling apart if you look close.

Default Assignment: A Mistake

Playing_Ball-1 (A Mistake)

I didn't notice the change in the rule so I looked through all my 'to be deleted' files from the last few days and found one that kind of intrigued me. It was over exposed, my shutter speed was too slow, and everyone moved at the last moment so it wasn't what I wanted at the time. I converted it to B&W and now it has depth... almost like a collage... I love it now.

Camera: Nikon D90
Exposure: 0.125 sec (1/8)

Focal Length: 150 mm
Exposure: 0.00
