Default Assignment: A Mistake

DSC_0002

Camera: Nikon D70s, Tamron 28/300 lens, taken 6/29/09
ISO 500, 65mm, f 4.8, 1 1/160 sec

My mistake was in not changing the white balance...I had it on tungsten and was outdoors, albeit in the shade looking out into the sun....the photo took on the very blue cast which I actually think made it much more interesting than had it come out "perfectly".

This is my first weekly assignment entry...thanks for the opportunity!!!

Default Assignment: A Mistake

This is a photo I took on my first trip to Mexico some 5 years ago (eventually I stayed to live here, imagine that) I don't remember if the plane took off or it was preparing to land in Monterrey, but the view was spectacular. I had my first digital camera with me, set on Landscape mode and White Balance set to Cloudy. I guess it didn't help much, and I considered this photo a mistake and never looked at it twice. The thing is that back then I didn't know you can actually edit your photos and had no idea what Post Processing is Not long ago I was going through my old photos and played with this one, and I was surprised with the result. I guess someone with better program like Photoshop and more knowledge will achieve better result, but here's what I got:

Default Assignment: "A Mistake"

Assignment: "A Mistake"

I had my camera set up on manual from a previous shoot and while at a friends forth floor flat, i saw a really nice sunset with, the sun poking through the orangey pink clouds, in my haste to capture this sight i pulled out my trusty alpha and fired a few off (being in raw i had no preveiw image) content i had a great capture i carried on playing my poker

when i got home and uploaded it, i actually had this....

the metering had centerd on the sun and the aperature was set too small for the quick shutter speed used.

i hung my head in shame untill my wife comented how abstract it looked, with the sunlight in the whisps of the cloud edges.

this is the only mistake shot ive ever kept, (im way to overcritical of my own work, if i dont think it looks right its binned )

Default A Mistake that I Love

I love this pic because is totally represents what it's like living with four kids. I had my Nikon D60 set on "no flash" but didn't have my tripod. The result is a ghost like image of the action that is constant in my life. I changed it to black and white because the color of my walls also altered the tinge of the photo. It's a mistake photo, but I love it.

Default My Mistake.

It was our miracle in march. A snow day. And I went a little too camera crazy. And this was the result. It was taken by a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P73 on March 2, 2009.

Default Assignment: A Mistake

This was taken June 19, 2009. Since I can't seem to get the TV and AV right, EVER!, I finally used Sports Mode to try and capture the water of the fountain.
A mistake in proper methods! I know that if I could have had more correct settings, it would have been more clear....still like it though... Everytime I look at this shot I see something different.....a person?, a hollow in a tree, the moon??? What do you see?
