My kids and my fiance were doing a silly relay race on the little dirtbike we have...my soon to be stepson was coming in for a rider change and apparently he was going way to fast for my camera....this was the shot I got of it....we all had a good laugh when i downloaded the pics from that day.

I was trying to take photos of a large cactus that flowers only at night several times a year. I am new to DSLR photography, and I didn't really understand the settings, so I was just playing with settings and shot this pic. I really love the way it turned out with the detail of the stamens and the edge of the petals. Most of my other photos have a yellow cast to them because of an orange street light nearby. This photo I used a small LED torch to illuminate the flowers. So while it was a mistake it was also a learning experience. This is my first post.

I took this image back in 2005 (I know quite a while ago, but I liked it that much I have kept it all these years) I was using a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ5 back then and the occasion was our village fireworks night. The villagers have a parade before the firework display and I was taking pictures of the floats as they went past. When I got home, I was quite disapointed as none of the images where any good until I got to this one. I didn't realise how well this image looked when I took it. The combination of slow shutter speed, moving float and hand/camera shake has added to the effect as the freeky figure loured at me.

In this shot I was hoping to capture the moment at which the match first ignites. As you can see my focus was off, but I was pleaseantly surprised with the "Striking Match" text in great focus. A happy mistake for me.

This is actually a picture of the moon. My intention was to take a nice night shot of the beautiful full moon. I way over exposed it though. I tinkered with the warmth and shadow settings and this popped up.

![]() This happy accident occurred when I had my flash turned up way too high. Luckily I was bouncing it off of a vaulted ceiling so it hit the backdrop and not their faces. It ended up being their Mother's favorite shot of the day. Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi Exposure: 0.017 sec (1/60) Aperture: f/4.0 Focal Length: 35 mm ISO Speed: 400 Exposure Bias: 0 EV Flash: On, Fired |
