Default Assignment: A Mistake

My kids and my fiance were doing a silly relay race on the little dirtbike we have...my soon to be stepson was coming in for a rider change and apparently he was going way to fast for my camera....this was the shot I got of it....we all had a good laugh when i downloaded the pics from that day.

[QUOTE=Redsky;570681]I took this picture a couple of days after getting my camera, July 3rd. Still learning about f-stops and exposure and shutter speed, I took this after taking pictures of the dogs in the shady backyard. My husband, whom I've followed around like paparazzi since getting my camera, was doing laundry at his son's house in Orlando. It was very dark with just a single 60 watt bulb lighting the outdoor laundry room. It was very dark on my camera, but after tweaking in RAW I really really dug the lighting effects.

Date of photo: 7/3/09

Sorry, I just had to smile at the look of concentration (or consternation?) on his face. Men and laundry....

(sometimes, not always...no offence guys)

Default Assignment: A Mistake

I was trying to take photos of a large cactus that flowers only at night several times a year. I am new to DSLR photography, and I didn't really understand the settings, so I was just playing with settings and shot this pic. I really love the way it turned out with the detail of the stamens and the edge of the petals. Most of my other photos have a yellow cast to them because of an orange street light nearby. This photo I used a small LED torch to illuminate the flowers. So while it was a mistake it was also a learning experience. This is my first post.

Default Assignment A Mistake

I took this image back in 2005 (I know quite a while ago, but I liked it that much I have kept it all these years) I was using a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ5 back then and the occasion was our village fireworks night. The villagers have a parade before the firework display and I was taking pictures of the floats as they went past. When I got home, I was quite disapointed as none of the images where any good until I got to this one. I didn't realise how well this image looked when I took it. The combination of slow shutter speed, moving float and hand/camera shake has added to the effect as the freeky figure loured at me.

Exposure Mode: Manual
Focal Length: 36mm
f/2.8 1sec
Metering Mode: Pattern
White balance: Cloudy.

Default Burry Rings

I almost deleted this when I view it in the camera display. I am glad I didn't. For me, it has a little bit of glamor, something exotic and a pinch of mysterious something. I like the mood as well.

In this shot I was hoping to capture the moment at which the match first ignites. As you can see my focus was off, but I was pleaseantly surprised with the "Striking Match" text in great focus. A happy mistake for me.

Default Assignment "A Mistake"

This is actually a picture of the moon. My intention was to take a nice night shot of the beautiful full moon. I way over exposed it though. I tinkered with the warmth and shadow settings and this popped up.

Default Assignment: A mistake

This happy accident occurred when I had my flash turned up way too high. Luckily I was bouncing it off of a vaulted ceiling so it hit the backdrop and not their faces. It ended up being their Mother's favorite shot of the day.

Exposure: 0.017 sec (1/60)
Aperture: f/4.0
Focal Length: 35 mm
