I was practicing the panning technique and wanted the subject to be sharp, not blurry. I also didn't like the white streaks in the background but this is one of my favorite shots. All the settings are wrong too. I just darkened it a little bit in photoshop.

![]() Nikon 5700 Fixed lens I was in a hurry and running along the bay front. Took this image over my shoulder as I ran. Never expected to get the girl or the sign but I LOVE the composition and the fact that the girl is looking over her shoulder too. Also recognize that the sign makes the image. ![]() AP f16 1/40 ISO 100 Focal Length - 92 mm Meter Mode - Pattern Lens 70-300 Date of picture - July 10-09 I was scratching my head as to what mistake shot I would use - and believe me I have many! So last night I was out shooting flowers for a project I am doing. I saw these two scoot under my tripod so I quickly turned the lens on them - I thought I had quickly switched from AP to SP but when I looked at the meta data I had not. But I kind of like it - the blur shows the action a bit more than a frozen slice would have, and really catches the character of Max the puppy and Wallace our old cat. What I learned - I don't always have to freeze the action - sometimes a bit of blur adds character to my picture! These two are only play fighting by the way - you never know who will be the stalker and who will be the victim. It amazes me that this cat loves to play with the dog! Thanks for the great assignment. Last edited by Stirlingdesigns; 07-10-2009 at 04:55 PM. |

![]() This darling picture of my daughter at one month old was accidentally overexposed, but it turned out to be my favorite picture of the set. The rest of the pictures were dark. I had my overhead speedlite on, but I really don't know how to use it that well, and I have no clue why this picture was overexposed and the rest of the pictures weren't, but it works for me. Assignment: "A mistake"
I was trying to get one of those classic/clichee shots on my eye, that I could later manipulate and turn in into something wonderful. I turned my camera on Super Macro and I kinda pushed it too close to my eye. In addition, the only light source was a poor lightbulb, lighting from above, so the shadows and everything went just wrong. But I think it gives it a creepy look ![]() ![]() Fujifilm Finepix S1000fd ISO 800 1/4 F2.8 Flash off Exposure: +0 Date and time: 09.07.2009, 8.50pm
