Default Assignment: B&W Portraits

Hi, I am new to photography and am enjoying taking random photos (of my family and friends) and being able to participate in this assignment.

This B&W photo is of my boyfriend and I have played around with the lighting to get this half tone of light and darkness. I still have a way to go in perfecting this but I am learning and understanding more and more each day.
